I have a TR-5, serial no. 1465, that I bought at a hamfest several years ago and it has been sitting unused. I had planned to use it as a spare rig to loan out, use for Field Day, etc. Then I found out that they are somewhat rare and it was put on the shelf. I'm not much of a collector even though Drake equipment has fond memories for me. My first rig was a TR-3 and my next was a TR-4CW.

It is probably time to see if it can find a good home where it will be more appreciated. Most of what I see about prices is several years old, so I'm not sure what I should ask for it, or how much interest there will be. I hooked it up tonight and it seems to work normally during a brief test. There are no accessories except possibly a 7077 microphone. The manual is in excellent shape. It has a 500 Hz CW filter. The owner noted in the "notes" section in the manual that the digital display board was repaired by Drake on 8/9/83 and on 8/5/87, (2) MRF-455 transistors, 4 electrolytic capacitors were replaced. Crystals were added for 10 meter CW and the 12 meter band.

If you're interested in this rig, please e-mail me at [email protected] or the address on this message. Please let me know your preliminary ideas about the range of values of this rig. The rig is in good condition. It was obviously used in someone's shack for several years. It was taken care of and there aren't any bad scratches or anything, just some "rub marks" around the most used controls, etc. I could send pictures to anyone interested.

Thanks, 73,
Dennis W5RZ
