I picked up a TR-7 & PS awhile back and finally got it to the bench for
a look see. It is a plane jane TR-7 (SN 85XX) with three part back
panel, a DR-7 board, no filters, no NB, but did have Drake fans on the
radio & PS. The receive & Tx worked OK, but the digital display was
just a few dots and the analog PTO light was burned out. I pulled the
DR-7 board and removed the #53 lamp. After a little web research and a
trip to Radio Shack I rigged up a LED replacement for the PTO light. I
applied a little Deoxit on the DR-7 pins, and reseated the board. The
Digital Display now works OK.
I have flipped the rig over and added the Drake mod for adding diode
groups to the bottom board for the low band segments, 0-500 Kc,
500-1000 Kc, & 1000-1500 Kc using the 1, 2 & 3 positions of the AUX
PROGRAM knob on the front. The 0-500 Kc & 1000-1500 Kc selections
display correctly, , but on the 500-1000Kc segment, I am getting a
couple of extra 9s in the 2 left LEDs of the display. Any ideas??
