To: [email protected] Message-ID: <[email protected]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Is there anything that is easy to find at say walmart or office depot that one could use to make Blue filters out of for a B line? I also need some Red for my vintage "Raytrack 2000DX" Amplifier. I see you can buy 'Lightning Gels' for about $1.29 ea in lots of colors for 'stage' use that are heat resistant but have to pay the usual S&H charges. Just need some blue bits for my R4B and enough red for the tops of 2 meters maybe 1/2" X 3" or so... Am thinking 'report covers' or something but not sure .... I often wonder what that is all about. I have not seen that on other, original, Drake manuals. Has anyone else? I guess that it could be cut up for dials. I've pasted in the URL for what looks to be a current offering for the TR-3/4 series (looks like a strip for the meter, and another 'swatch' for the dial). I actually had this tagged in listings I was following, but haven't ordered yet, so I can't comment on quality/color match etc, but the listing reads very well for Drake gear. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330361920334&ssPageName=S TRK:MEWAX:IT Phil, WA2CLX ------------------------------ Message: 5 Date: Wed, 23 Sep 2009 20:24:50 -0500 From: "Jim Shorney" <[email protected]> Subject: Re: [Drakelist] Lighting Filters Blue? It's anyone's guess if they are still available these days, but a double layer of the blue was a pretty close match to the Drake. The red looked nice in my HR2510. If you've got a theater supply or light & sound shop in your area, you could check for the Lee gels there. 73 -Jim -- Ham Radio NU0C Lincoln, Nebraska, U.S.S.A. You might want to search the Drakelist archives, this subject has been discussed pretty much to the point of achieving "deceased equine" status. ;) 73 -Jim -- Ham Radio NU0C Lincoln, Nebraska, U.S.S.A. As most of use has witnessed over the years with age the blue filter material would fade in the area of the #47 lamp and the white plastic dial background would yellow. The result was a green colored dial background. The S meter would appear as no filter was installed at all because of the fading, just colorless lamp light. 73, Gary W8PU http://home.roadrunner.com/~w8pu -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Mine is as you describe with the meters looking white and the dials green. And the filter material appears blue from the back. I very clearly rmember it as being green when new however--maybe I'm finally losing it ;) Wish I had a dollar for every mile I have spun the tuning dials on this pair! Still working well and getting great on-air reports. JUST replaced the original finals a couple months ago. The old ones still worked just a little soft.
