This reminds me of the Yaesu FT-101E tuning proceures. They told you to tune up for 260 watts p.e.p. input on SSB and only 180 watts DC Input on CW.
My friend said that it would do fine at 260 watts input on CW and he was right. I always ran it like that and never had the slightest problem with finals failing the whole time that I owned and used it!
