I put the rest of the R-4A back together after re-capping, double-checked
everything and flipped the switch. No smoke, audio hiss, passband and notch
seem to work, VFO works, picked up some broadcasters on 40m off a 3 ft
hunk-o-wire.
Now comes the fun part: replacing 3 bad/soft tubes, find out why it seems to
mute when the switch is in CAL. and get it re-aligned once the tubes have been
replaced.
It looks and smells much better after its shower! I'd attach a pic if I could.
