I'm not sure I could tell the difference. I've heard both used on the air with Drakes. I only have a D-104 with the non-amplified base. You do not need a mic pre-amp.
I should add the the mic connector is a .206" 3 conductor, not a 1/4 inch stereo plug. I remember the Swithcraft 230. 73, Bob WW3QB --- On Mon, 11/16/09, AD5VJ Bob <[email protected]> wrote: From: AD5VJ Bob <[email protected]> Subject: RE: [Drakelist] TR-3 MIC To: "'Robert Ladden'" <[email protected]> Date: Monday, November 16, 2009, 11:34 PM Hi Bob Thanks, do you like the D-104 or the Shure the best? Also a Shure 444 will do well. The classics work. 73, Bob WW3QB --- On Mon, 11/16/09, AD5VJ Bob <[email protected]> wrote: From: AD5VJ Bob <[email protected]> Subject: [Drakelist] TR-3 MIC To: [email protected] Date: Monday, November 16, 2009, 11:24 PM I have picked up a 44 page DjVU manual for my TR-3 and am reading it now. I am in the microphone section. What microphone that is available today would you guys recommend for the TR-3. I see that it will require a stereo plug and a mic with a 'wide flat frequency response, but not sure of the mic model or brand that would be best.
