My advice would be to buy and install the AC-4R kit and not have to worry
about what shape the "supposed" caps are. It is cheap insurance for these
nice rigs. That being said, I would caution that there are fatal voltages
involved with the AC4 power supply, and would caution that you might want
help installing the kit if you haven't had experience working with it.
