The manual would imply about 8 watts is normal. AM: Controlled carrier AM screen modulator is built-in. 260 watts P.E.P. input. Low carrier power increases 6 times to 50 watts output at maximum modulation. This system is compatible with SSB linear.
You can see if something similar to this was done to your TR3. http://www.amwindow.org/tech/htm/mods.htm Don't do much AM, so I never paid attention to how my TR3 acted before I sold it. Also keep in mind that your meter has a limitation to its accuracy as well. 83, Ron WD8SBB --- On Thu, 12/24/09, Jim Theisen <[email protected]> wrote: > From: Jim Theisen <[email protected]> > Subject: [Drakelist] T-R3 working just fine now I think > To: "Drake Radio List" <[email protected]> > Date: Thursday, December 24, 2009, 11:40 AM > Hi Fellow Drake Folks > > Well I have my T-R3 working just fine now I think. > > I used AM this morning and had nothing but nice reports. > > This is an unmodified unit as far as I know > > What should the idling AM carrier be with > no audio out put. > Mine is around 30 watts.
