After doing some low tech repair of the digital frequency display on my TR-7
(SN 3173) I decided to try it out on the air. Had it for 2 years now but never
transmitted, just used the receiver. Anyway, using a correctly wired Drake
7077 mic my friend across town advised that my audio was terrible. I then
tried a correctly wired Shure 444D with the same result. The transmitted audio
varies from a shrill squeal to a low, mostly unintelligible rumble as the
receiver's VFO is passed through the signal.
Any one have any ideas about what the problem might be?
