At the time the TR7 was designed, there was still some 850 Hz RTTY shift being 
used.  1 KHz would have been perfect for that.  I can't recall when the big 
shift to 170 Hz occurred, but I remember still using 850 Hz in the mid to late 
1970s.

  I was documenting my ham equipment for insurance and estate planning purposes 
the other day and started wondering how common the 1000 Hz filter is in my 
TR-7.  I can't remember the last time I saw one for sale.  It's kind of an odd 
ball bandwidth, too narrow for SSB and a bit too wide for CW and 170 Hz shift 
RTTY.
