Some info here http://www.sm6rpz.se/radio/mod7.php I think a SRA3MH would have been better. I bet there are some blown PIN diodes in there too. I probably would have used a RAY-6U and increased the LO etc etc. The front end in a stock TR-7 is not the best in the world. My own TR-7 I did modify with a RAY-3 mixer and this was back in 1981 or so, after mod strong signal handling was MUCH better.
