your sure it is not an S-meter issue, and or an AGC issue? You actually have done an a-b comparison with signals and a known good RX? Been a long time since I worked on any HF radios, but thought I would just ask the question. 73, Ron WD8SBB ............................... Response: a) with a calibrated signal generator (double checked on a 'scope) 5mV p-to-p at the antenna only produced S8 at 3.5MHz (so about 40dB low) b) yes - done a-b comparison with another receiver and confirm the low sensitivity c) the AGC - with no signal I have this set at -1.35V, and at an indicated S9 (with nearly 10mV p-to-p at the antenna) is about -5.3V. The AGC-voltage/S meter reading correspondence does not look unusual to me. ................................
