I just finished up rebuilding the dial plates on my R-4C PTO. The dials were in bad shape and had scratches and other discolorations ( not yellowed) and it was really awful to look at. So I took out the PTO and used some Meguiars PlastX Cleaner and Polish on them. Boy, what a difference. I would say that are almost as shiny as new and it took out all the discoloration. I was really impressed, it even took out most of the scratches. I had tried Flitz as well as Blue Magic Headlight Restorer but these two products were a bit too course and left a haze behind and a few minor scratches, then I used the Plasx and it cleaned up all the bad things that the other two products caused and removed all the other problems. I also cleaned all the gears and holes up and it turns much much better, I followed WB4HNH's webpage on this
This was a success but.... In putting the gears back together I found that I didn't know where the clear plastic spacers/washers came from..I did reassemble it without them and it works smoothly but have the feeling that I should be putting these back in. Anyone know where these belong??? Steve NU0P .
