Yes, it is a special diode, a PIN switching diode. You "can" use a 1N4148, etc., but filter blowby (or signal loss!) may be a problem depending upon which diode is it. These diodes are used to switch the various filters in and out.

MPN3404s are readily available from W8DIZ and others.
