Just received Drake 2B s/n 2052. It's in quite nice condition for a radio
of that vintage and seems to work just fine, plenty of signals audible and
it is stable, no odd smells of overheating, etc. FP & cabinet are clean
with only a few minor paint dings along the front edge of the cabinet. The
chassis is clean, no obvious serious rust or corrosion, just that greenish
patina that copper develops over the years.

The previous owner had the receiver for many years (although not the
original owner) but used it only rarely and never had it serviced or
aligned. For all I know it may still have all the original tubes (the ones I
can
see without removing the cabinet say "RCA").

Plan is to do some light cleaning of the cabinet & FP (very little
required), install a re-cap kit, Deoxit the switches & pots, install a new
tube set (keeping the old ones as spares), and touch up the alignment.

This radio is actually probably older than my first 2B, which I bought
(IIRC) in '63. I've owned a couple of others since but stupidly let them
get away, so this one is a "keeper". :-)
