Spectran does this function..very easy to use but not sure if it will do the graphical solution you want.

SpectrumLab does precisely that ..will analyze and create a file of output data. We use it in the Frequency Measurement Test environment.

Both are shareware/freeware written by amateur radio ops. Don't have the website URL's handy but google should find them. Be certain you find the correct names as there are several packages out there with similar names.

I'd like to measure the total frequency drift/shift over time from cold start on an R-4A. Since I have a stable HF TCXO source I'd like to do something like the following: 1. Connect the stable source to the receiver's antenna input ; 2. Feed the audio output of the receiver into my laptop; 3. Turn the receiver on and quickly tune it so that the audio output is some reference audio tone (probably 1 kHz); 4. Have the laptop monitor & graph the drift/shift in output frequency over time, preferably one (1) hour. Does anyone have a recommendation for a suitable piece of software for my Dell laptop (running XP Professional) that would accept the audio input and graph the data, and allow the complete results to be saved as a file? An expandable (e.g., high-res) scale would be preferred because it would make it easier to spot any momentary but self-correcting shifts that may occur (i.e., the frequency "jumps" a few tens of Hz for a short interval - less than one second - then returns to where it was). I can do this manually with a frequency counter but allowing the laptop to do the work is preferable. ;-) The next step is separate monitoring of the frequency-determining circuits in the receiver to see how much each one is contributing to any observed problem(s). 73/arf, Paul, K4MSG ------------------------------------------------------------------------
