Tom , Fear not, you are not alone in the World! I use the R-4 (Serial # 921) with a T4-Reciter (Serial #173). Basically this combination is a "Tranceiver" b/c the Reciter does not have a VFO and is controlled by the R-4. I receive excellent reports on the quality of the transmission and like all of the R-4s, great listening and control of the received signal.
