Sounds like the dreaded 'TR-7 Disease'! :-) Multiple, seemingly
unrelated problems from a rig that 'worked 100% when put away'.
Easiest fix is to just reseat all cards and connectors. Lift each card
up slightly and push back down. You MAY get away with just the rearmost
2nd IF/AF board since at least two of your symptoms are indications. A
little DeoxIT will help a little, but is a LOT more work! Personally, I
don't think the improvement is worth the work. I DeoxIT any card that
is removed for other reasons, but not it a case like this.
There just isn't enough voltage or current in these modern (read solid
state) radios to break through even the slightest corrosion on
contacts. Gold plated contacts throughout would help, but was/is not
cost competitive. For reliability, SS gear should have the absolute
minimum number of interconnects. Not having ANY voltage on these,
especially the ones with dissimilar metal to metal contact, forms a nice
layer of insulation even in ideal storage conditions.
