OK, I now have another Drake toy and can get a Drake station on the air.

Just received T-4X #12682G today from Ralph, W1ZK, via an eBay
auction. It's actually pretty nice and works fine, PTO is stable and it puts
out
power like it should. Ralph understated the condition by giving it a "5"
for cosmetics, but I think it's actually better than that; a cabinet top
repaint wouldn't hurt but it's really pretty nice for a 1965-66 transmitter.
The copper chassis looks remarkably good. Ralph replaced the electrolytics
with under-chassis discretes but left the old can intact for appearances
sake, but I may just do the Hayseed Hamfest can replacement anyway. I will
be going through it to check things out, clean the relay, etc., to make it
as reliable as possible.

*** NOTE: There is one minor problem and that is that the small round
spring washer that keeps the flat, rectangular plastic dial plate (with the
vertical red line) in place, but still allows it to be slid back & forth, is
missing. Anyone know where I can find a replacement? The plate is really
loose.....

    For a power supply I bought an AC-4, s/n 51250, from George, K4GM, who
lives in a neighboring county. That works fine also (it's circa 1975)
*BUT* I will be doing the full rebuild sooner rather than later (35 years is a
long time). This supply is in very nice cosmetic condition as well.

Teamed with either R-4A #3781 (now in the shack) or R-4A #5757G (the
Immaculate One, presently sitting on the shelf) this Drake Twins combo
should make a nice "nostalgia" back-up CW rig. ;-)

Yours for having fun with Drake radios,

Paul, K4MSG
