I didn't go to the extent of removing the whole contact assembly, I just
removed as much solder as I could from the bad pin and reflowed it with fresh
solder and plenty of solder flux.

It should go without saying, keep that cooling fan clean! The air path in the
L-7 is from the bottom, past the socket pins. They need as much cooling as
possible.
