I want to thank all of you who have helped me with my tuner problems.
Especially you Terry. I hope as of this point in time, the problem was bad
contacts on the wafer switches, and a couple more of bad solder joints
where the two variable capacitors(inductors) are connected. I discovered
this one by accident, and it appears my problem with intermittent VSWR has
been resolved.

I now have another problem that needs some more help with. Recently I
purchased a used TR7 and have now been made aware that my VSWR problem now
appears to be the TR7. The TR7 appears to be oscillating on 40 meters only
when used with an external antenna. This does happen when I use a dummy
load. The oscillations only happen on 40 meters and all other bands work
great with full power output. I also did find that while operating on 40
meters if I tap on the far rear right side of the TR7 cabinet gently, I can
get the oscillations to occur immediately. As soon as I release the mic,
and rekey the power comes back. I made a few transmissions yesterday on 40
meters and found I have to run the mic gain almost completely off and the
carrier level extremely low no more than 40 watts in the key position. My
voice peaks also seem to cause the unit to shut down or oscillate so when I
speak I almost have to whisper. Not having a lot of experience with the
internal working of this rig I wanted ask to see if anybody else has had
this experience, and what action was taken to remedy this condition?

Thank you in advance
