No, it's because the tube serves a dual function. In CW/SSB V6 operates as a product detector, oscillating at 50 kHz and mixing in the one tube. The Cathode, Grid, Screen and Plate perform the oscillation (T1) and Mixer function of the PD. In AM, the oscillator is disabled by S2, and the Cathode, Suppressor and Plate operate as a triode audio amplifier, the AF Preamp stage.
