Why would feed-thru caps fail or be of concern? I don't think I've ever seen any feed-thru caps fail anywhere I have ever seen them. I've have seen broken ones or cracked ones but this was due to mechanical stress.

Yours are more than likely 30+ years old and any drop-in replacements (if you can find 'em) probably are too. Been there a couple of times in the last several years. I think it was Garey that suggested just running the filament xfmr directly to the choke with by-pass caps to ground. The amp has been working great and running cool ever since, and I haven't had to hunt for NOS caps.
