That 'fixes' a lot of these problems. :-)

Last night I "exercised" the RCVR/XCVR slide switch on the side of
the radio and it came to life. Seems to work well on 80/40 but 20m
is in need of help. The RF Tune is out of range; i.e., the gain on
20m increases as I turn CCW but I hit the end of the range before it
peaks. I will align and hope that will make it better. Thanks to
Garey et al for input on fixing the "new" rig.

I encountered the same thing and should have thought of it. I think
it might be a good idea to lock the switch in the XCVR position by
means of a length of shim stock held in place by the cabinet mounting
screw a little behind the switch. Just a length of stock with a hole
drilled for the screw and pushed against the side of the switch. Its
_very_ easy to knock it into the wrong position. There is a similar
arrangement on the fixed-frequency crystal switch on the R-4B. You
could lock it with some tape but tape will eventually come off.
Yeah, Drake added a little solder lug under one of the mounting screws,
late. I guess they got tired of responding to 'faint receiver'
complaints!! :-)
