Lee and all, My first rig was a borrowed Johnson Navigator, a homebrew copy of the Johnson TR switch, and a Heathkit HR-10 that I built when I was in the service. The Navigator was sublime, but the HR-10 was, well, let's just say it left a lot to be desired in terms of stability, selectivity, and dynamic range. Eventually I graduated to a Valiant II and an HQ170-A. I wish I still had the Valliant, but the 170-A required constant work to keep it running.
