I have the 600Hz first IF filter and front panel switch next on the workbench. I will be making these mods over the next few weeks and will let you know how it goes. I will also likely install the additional AGC mods while I am doing the switch. By the way, my R-4C was beautifully restored by Ron Baker WB4HFN. Can't say enough good about his work! He has given me a great place to start!
My rig (an estate purchase) had a "roofing" filter mod poorly done using a 2.4KHz: it was removed during the restoration. Ron found a PS board, audio board and product detector board already (and properly) installed. Basically the radio is just about fully modded, except for the mixer which is planned. In this condition, sans poorly implemented IF filter, the radio works fantastic! I will let you know once the 600Hz Sherwood Engineering filter is in and I expect only good results.
