Extending Power Switch Life
Place a 115 VAC relay in the external power
supply, that is keyed by the ON-OFF
switch in the rig. This switch is going to be impossible to replace in the
future. It takes a beating considering the inductance of the power transformer
(just ask the spark coil in
your car), and the amount of power going
through it. There are soft start circuits
out there, but a relay is simple to hook up
(4 wires, 16 gauge or better), and cheap.
You may have one laying around already.
