Most likely the Carrier Oscillator is off frequency. Typically one sideband will sound 'tinny' and the other is 'bassy'. Perform the procedure in Section VIII, B of the manual. If you are unable to get equal sound from both filters, clean the switch contacts of the SIDEBAND switch with DeoxIT or other contact cleaner. NO sprays....... IF still no luck, you may have a bad LSB filter. For some reason it always seems to be the LSB filter and not the USB. You may find one from a donor unit or even on eBay if you find you need it.

Good morning to the list!

I have just put an R4B and T4x on the air. I got on LSB 80M last weekend, and was told my signal sounded “tinny” with no lows. It was quite clear and readable though. Just low audio. After cleaning switches and pots, checking tubes etc., had a qso on USB 20M. Report was 10 over to Chicago, about a thousand miles from Houston. I can hear the difference in the audio when I monitor on another receiver. So it seems I have an audio problem on LSB only. I am seeing around 110 watts peak on both USB and LSB. Any thoughts or ideas are welcome. Thanks in advance, and a happy New Year to all!!
