Well, I'm not sure exactly which is it, but I WAS having the same
problems.

Last night, I downloaded the binaries from the 9th, and changed my
XF86Config file from "ati" to "radeon" in the appropriate section, and
I'm typing this using that setup.

So, not sure if it's the binary package problem has been solved, or
resolved itself.... Or if it's my changing the driver over to radeon
instead of ati .

There still seem to be some DPMS issues. I have my monitor set up to go
into standby mode in 1 hour, suspend 15 minutes later, and off after
two hours. All controlled via the DPMS abilities of XScreenSaver 2.32
(or whatever the latest version is, I forget). I left that going last
night, and I woke up a few hours in and could still hear XMMS playing.
Woke up this morning to a completely locked up system. This is a slight
improvement over the April 30th binaries that was the last package
before yesterday I could get to work with my Radeon VE, but DPMS use to
work flawlessly with my Radeon a few months ago (still using DRI). I
realize it's probably not considered a crittical sort of bug, but if
someone gets a chance to look into it, and resolve it, they'd have my
thanks. Until then, DPMS is staying disabled. Tired of fsck's at reboot
time.
