Hi! I was just browsing the DRI site (dri-devel) looking for a fix to a
problem I've been having and I saw the little snippit of code 'RE: g200
blending problem' and got wondering if perhaps what you mentioned was
the fix to it.
Okay, the problem:
When I play q3f on my g200 I have a few problems. I'm not sure how
familiar you are with the game, so I'll do my best to explain.
1) When I hit TAB to view the scores, instead of there being (I assume)
a blue/red background listing of scores, there are giant blue & red
SOLID blocks of color with NO TEXT (visible).
2) When I get hit by a gas grenade, I assume the screen should go
translucent with different shades of the rainbow, so to speak. Instead,
the screen goes a SOLID blue/red/violet/pink/etc.
3) When I get hit by a flash grenade, the effect is that my screen
should go solid white & slowly fade back to clarity. Unfortunately I got
this horrible pure-white effect for the duration of the grenade, with
absolutely NO FADE at all.
At first I thought the problem lied with q3f, so I asked around on their
support channels / mailinglists and apparently they'd never heard of it,
but they questioned me because I run Linux & have a g200.
OH, and another thing. Heh. I think this is related, although I'm not
too sure. When I rebooted my machine after installing 0.7 of DRI, and
tried to load startx, here's my error:
--snip--
(II) MGA(0): [drm] added 1 reserved context for kernel
(EE) MGA(0): [dri] MGADRIScreenInit failed because of a version
mismatch.
[dri] mga.o kernel module version is 2.0.1 but version 3.0.x is needed.
[dri] Disabling DRI.
(EE) MGA(0): [drm] failed to remove DRM signal handler
(II) MGA(0): [drm] removed 1 reserved context for kernel
DRIUnlock called when not locked
--snip--
I cut out quite a bit of text. Anyway, XF86 loads fine, but when it
displays things, the font is completely screwed up. Also, DRI reports as
being Indirect under my applications/glxinfo.
To fix this I have to re-run the install.sh program, restart X11 and it
looks fine.
That's pretty much all of my problems. Other than those things it all
seems to be running fine. Not that fastest, but I only have a pII400
128m ram, and a Matrox g200, so I don't expect it to be lightning fast
either. (Although I can run q3f with dynamic lighting turned off).
Sorry about the length if this email; I've spent hours searching for an
answer to my problem(s) and have come up with nothing.
Thank you very much for your time and effort!
Sincerely,
Jeff Corcoran
