You you want to do wont work, because the building configuration will also be overwritten.. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I have the impression that the whole X server tree is there, only that not all is built isn't it? Anyway, once you have installed under /usr/X11R6-DRI, you can just install it over again and again. You can even change some parts (e.g, the driver modules source files) and just make ; make install on that part! It's best to make some scripts to change the symbolic link of the X server in /usr/X11R6 to point to /usr/X11R6-DRI and vice-versa. >> >> I hope I haven't missed your question!
