In the recent SlashDot interview to Alan Cox, the close/openness of NVidia drivers was briefly discussed.
In one of the threads a anonymous claiming to be a former ATI employee defending the company mentioned that the next Direct3D sample driver source will be Radeon based. You can read it here http://slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=32897&threshold=0&commentsort=0&tid=166&mode=thread&pid=3551309#3551925 . In what way could this affect the DRI Radeon development if it holds true? I suppose that some DRI developers already have some form of the source code as part of a SDK, so I don't know if it has any relevance. Nevertheless, it seemed interesting enough to mention here.
