Sounds reasonable, except maybe for the flushes - do you mean the
FLUSH_RING()s? I think removing those could hurt 2D responsiveness.

But that's not the point AFAIUI. We need to set the flag to tell XAA that the
chip has been modifying the framebuffer and it has to sync before doing direct
access.
