That seems like a very good call.  I'd also like to get mesa-41 merged so
that I can bring it into the texmem branch.

For me, there are three things that would make for an "idea" 4.3 release
in terms of DRI:

1. Mesa 5.0
2. Back-port the cube map support from the R200 driver to the R100 driver.
   (it's been around the middle of my todo list since you announced its
   availability!)
3. Some of the smaller GLX versioning / extension changes that we've
   discussed.

At this point, I suspect that only 1 and part of 3 will happen. :(
