You can download a version of the software renderer for UT2003 from
unreal.epicgames.com albeit Windows only and it's an early version with a
lot of minor caveats that have mostly been fixed since then.

The software renderer (we use RAD's Pixomatic) actually outperforms a TNT2
in certain cases and I guess will see more use on Linux than on Windows.
