Please read my 1st comment where it says "This is irrespective of whether DRI
is enabled or disabled.". This means the problem is there whether or not DRI
is enabled.
Also, regarding ld.so.cache being not updated, please read my 1st comment
where it says "On the
same system, GLX apps/commands run with no such startup delay if the X display
is set on another video card (voodoo3 PCI video card, "tdfx" driver)."
Obviously, there is no reason why ld.so.cache should be updated for one
display and not for the other.
