Can't do that - I have a notebook. Are you absolutely sure that this is what helped ? It would be very worrying if these ATI cards can overheat without warning and purely due to software.
I can test this again. IMHO, Radeon 9600 pros and 9550 cards iv seen have way too small heat sink(no fan!). My cards heat sink is very hot when run without extra cooling.
Then we could try to deal with this by inserting wait states.
If so, this would suck majorly, especially if there is no temperature sensor to tell how loaded the card is.

Even with immediate mode rendering ?
Immediate mode is slightly broken as r300EmitLOAD_VBPNTR isnt currectly called at all. Not doing this will break vervex programs and possibly something else too.
BTW, i have added some code to do idx buffers in r300_driver. Should i commit this code or do you want to figure out this first?
