No, it didn't abort. It froze. Why do you think it aborted? Truncated X-log? The Xserver began to start, the console went black and the cursor into the upper left corner and stopped blinking. I had to access the machine through ssh to get the logs. I think it might be a conflict between the loaded nvidia framebuffer driver and nouveau. Did you try that? nvidia-fb and nouveau at the same time?
