Ashish This is a live project and you can read about the roadmap for the project at http://www.mapr.com/blog/apache-drill-approaches-new-milestone#.U3kQunnpZfM
Apache Drill has some commonalities with Impala but it is also very different in that it is trying to make data exploration very easy for customers on Hadoop without the need to create and manage schemas in Hive metastore. It has some unique capabilities such as being able to do SQL queries directly against self describing data such as JSON, Parquet, issue queries against HBase tables. Drill also provides ability to work with semi-strcutured/nested data in these sources. Ultimately it depends on the use case on which is the right technology to pick, but the above is the high level difference. Hope that helps. thanks On Sun, May 18, 2014 at 10:24 AM, Ashish Gupta <[email protected]>wrote: > I saw that MapR and Amazon AWS has adopted Impala.
