for the benefit of those not walking the streets of Portland... my
comment on non-transactional engines were:

- we could provide an interface to help implementing table locks

- OR... in the breaking of existing apps (of which we have none for
Drizzle remember), we could instead of sleeping on lock, return
temporary error. application must then retry.
        - NDB does this.
