ASC and DESC for index columns is non-standard. If it is allowed or
not is thus DBMS specific
Actually, indexing is not standardized by SQL at all. I think it is
considered a "performance optimization". However, defining unique and
primary key constraints is allowed, and the implementation is free to
create indexes to enforce those constraints...
