Actually, we actively encourage -5 :) If someone is adamantly opposed
to something, we should certainly let their opinion be strongly
considered. Of course, if the community is of a different opinion, the
dissenter will need to make a strong case, but we do indeed count
negative votes with a bit more weight...
Either way, I disagree with you. Drizzle doesn't seem to be built to
look backwards (like MySQL has to do), but forwards. If the better
approach, in the long run, is to fix these sorts of issues, I think it
should be fixed. Drizzle is already not going to be an easy migration
from MySQL, so I don't see why we need to preserve compatibility where
it doesn't make any sense.
Agreed on all points. Sean, given the above statement, do you have a
response?
The vote isn't on importance; people are in agreement that it isn't
critical -- that's why it's on the Low Hanging Fruit milestone and not
the Cirrus milestone.
