Ok, I submitted an application to GSoC for this project. I'm not too sure what happens now. I know that potential mentors can make comments on my application and I can still modify the application until the application deadline (which is April 3rd). After that, I believe that the mentoring organization ranks applications and chooses a certain number of projects that they are interested in.
Since the application goes to MySQL through Google's SoC site (http://socghop.appspot.com/program/home/google/gsoc2009), I'm not sure if can see it unless you are signed up to be a mentor for GSoC. Someone who was a mentor in previous years might know better than me though? I'm also not too sure how MySQL feels about Drizzle related projects for SoC.
