Hey Jay,
I haven't followed this whole thread but I am a +1 on the event
scheduler continuing.
Hi Mike! Yep, lots of folks are interested in the event scheduler
continuing, and nobody has said it won't. It just won't in its current
form in MySQL. A generic event scheduler plugin shouldn't be too
difficult to write, and I am sure you'll see one written sooner rather
than later. The big point is that it will be a plugin and not
integrated tightly into the kernel...
Great way to do lots of things and I wish I would have had something
like back when I was coding and DBAing.products.
I always hate to having yet another scheduler or dealing with it cross
platform etc.
Plus with the integration you all are doing across drizzle, memcached,
gearman, etc. with UDFs or other APIs it would be nice to be able to
loop in through a DB controlled scheduler.
+1 on all the above!
Cheers!

Awe I like the Event Scheduler :P
I like it as well :)
The event scheduler is a pretty simple feature, compared to others,
to port over and make into a pluggable module.
It would be nice to have an internal programatic interface to database
tables that doesn't involve closing your eyes and thinking of England.
Hmm, since I'm English, I'm not quite sure what you mean by
this...especially since you are one of those criminals we dropped off
in Australia years ago... :P
But definitely +1 to a an API :)
