Hi,

I'm Siqi Guo, a student from Peking University of China, I'm currently on
the second year of my Master Degree studies.

Due to requirements of my research project, I've been studying
and developing on PostgreSQL kernel since 2006, which helps me understand
the whole framework of database. And I am very familiar with Postgre's
design and implementation, especially for data representation and storage.

Now I'm interested in the new GSoc project: *IPv4, IPv6, MACADDR Native
Column Types*. I've gone through the discussion about "Revisiting
ipv4<https://lists.launchpad.net/drizzle-discuss/msg06283.html>",
I wonder whether this discussion has reached to an agreement. In my opinion,
it is necessary to bring in IP types (fields), it is both convenient for
users and cost-saving. That's also what Postgres did by introducing
"macaddr", "inet" and "cidr" data types.

I've set up environments and compiled Drizzle souce codes two weeks
ago. Besides I've marked some possible modification points in drizzle codes,
and will keep studying related parts.
Any Suggestions?
