Hi Darryl, 

We’re currently doing the same thing as you in terms of asking for ORCiDs 
in Vireo and pushing them to DSpace as metadata. My understanding from the 
developers here at Texas A&M—who are working on the new version of Vireo—is 
that this is going to continue being the case with Vireo for the time 
being. To put it briefly, this is one application that would benefit from 
answers to my question. 

However, in the Vireo case ORCiDs would be tied to the Thesis/Dissertation 
authors. The actual reason for asking my question is that we are also 
bringing up VIVO as a profile system for faculty and interested in linking 
this more closely with OAKTrust. We are curious to know if others have 
experience with using the name authority control because we would like to 
test using ORCiDs or VIVO URIs or possibly both for a single person. This 
person would be a faculty member serving as committee chair for a given 
Thesis/Dissertation, rather than the graduate student author.
