If all you need is when the user hit the VIEW/OPEN button in display-item
page, not downloading the file but directly viewing it in their browser
with your JS app( is it like a Gallery for DICOM?). Well, I have some
thoughts.
if ( current display-item.jsp )
if ( file download url ends with .DCM )
disable file download action.
import your js app.
lauch your app when user click download.
Your app fetch DICOM files from url in the html.
