I have a proposal for DSpace, thank you for reading, and it is very appriciated
if anyone can give some feedback.
I suggest to add Web Service API to DSpace, So that external system can
interact with it via the API.
The web service API including following functions:
1. User Authentication by JAAS
2. User/Group management(including Add,modify,delete)
3. Item, Bundle, BitStream management. External system can inject, fetch
and delete these objects via Web Service API.
4. Search. The external system can post a search request and then get the
search result
With the web service API, the external system can integrate with DSpace
conveniently; they can get data/Document from DSpace and save their document to
DSpace,
exploiting DSpace to save/manage document content and metadata.
IBM FileNet Content Manager is a product that very similar to DSpace, it
provides such web service API to customers, and it is used widely when
customers want to integrate FileNet with their business system exploiting
FileNet to manage their content (i.e. Document, image).
