Robin Taylor commented on DS-619:
---------------------------------

Hi Tim,

I think I agree, but there are a couple of wee things worth mentioning.

If we went with option 1 we could avoid the scenario you describe because you
can specify a time period in dspace.cfg so that items dont get deleted until
that period has expired.

Also, there is an option in the UI to list currently exported items by looking
in the export directory. There is no reason why that code couldn't look at the
system defined temp directory, its just that it introduces a little dependency
between the app and the OS config ie. if a system admin changed the location of
the OS temp directory any currently exported files would be lost.

On balance I still prefer option 2 so if noone disagrees I'll work on that
basis.

Thanks, Robin.

> An eperson's item exports are not deleted when the eperson is deleted. This
> results in orphaned entries in
> [dspace.dir]/exports/download/[EpersonID] as the exports are only deleted if
> an eperson creates a new export and got old exports which exceed the timespan
> configured.
