It's spending long stretches of time (and huge wads of memory)
validating something or other.  Something is creating META-INF
directories all over the source tree.  And it keeps spitting out to
stdout:

  FATAL: Cannot find dspace.cfg

Since when does Eclipse care about dspace.cfg?

Any ideas?

(At least I eventually worked out how to make Eclipse notice that a new
project (with modules) had miraculously appeared in the workspace.)
